This is an invented example, not a real case. A student gets a message from an unknown number offering a remote data internship with "instant selection" and no interview.

The sender asks for a "registration fee" for a training kit and wants bank details "to set up the stipend". Each request matches a red flag in the table. The safer path is to stop replying, look for the company's official careers page and email domain, and ask the college placement cell if it has heard of the employer.

Where do you report a scam or get help?

Report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in, which lets you register a complaint. Its advisory page carries notices titled "Advisory regarding fake job racket targeting Indian youth" (27 June 2024) and about fake job offer SMSs (29 August 2022).
