Wipro Hiring Process for Freshers (2026): Elite NTH and Rounds
How Wipro hires freshers: Elite NTH, Turbo, STAR and WILP compared on eligibility, rounds, packages and service agreements, plus recent onboarding delays.
Last updated: 8 October 2026 · By the Asuraa Team
Quick answer: Wipro hires freshers through programmes such as Elite National Talent Hunt, Turbo and STAR, each with an online assessment, a business discussion round, a Letter of Intent and then an offer. Wipro's recruitment pages list Rs 3.5 lakh joining compensation for Elite NTH (2023 batch), Rs 5.5 lakh plus a Rs 1 lakh retention bonus for Turbo (2025 batch) and Rs 10 lakh for STAR (2023 batch).
Key takeaways
- Wipro hires engineering freshers through separate programmes, mainly Elite National Talent Hunt, Turbo for 46 premier institutes, and STAR.
- Wipro's Elite NTH page requires B.E./B.Tech. with at least 60% in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, and allows one backlog at assessment that must be cleared by the final semester.
- The Turbo 2025 online assessment has three segments: aptitude, coding in C, C++, Java or Python, and written communication, followed by voice and business discussion rounds.
- Wipro's Turbo 2025 page lists Rs 5.5 lakh CTC plus a Rs 1 lakh retention bonus and a 12-month service agreement of Rs 75,000, recovered pro-rata.
- Business Standard reported in August 2026 that over 200 Elite 2025 selects with July 2025 offer letters still had no joining date.
Wipro does not hire engineering freshers through one single route. It runs several programmes, chiefly Elite (including the open Elite National Talent Hunt), Turbo for premier institutes and STAR for higher-paid engineering roles, plus a work-integrated programme for BCA and B.Sc. graduates. Each has its own eligibility, test pattern and package. This guide sets out what Wipro's own recruitment pages say about each, and what has happened to recent batches.
How does Wipro hire freshers?
Wipro hires freshers through named hiring programmes, each with an online assessment followed by one or more interview-style rounds and a Letter of Intent before the final offer. Wipro's Early Careers page describes Elite as its technical graduate hiring programme for newly graduated engineers from across India, and Turbo as a programme that recruits from 46 premier institutes, including IIITs, NITs and selected private colleges.
Wipro's recruitment hub on Superset, linked from the official careers site, lists these programmes (Wipro on Superset):
| Programme | Who it is for | Published role and pay |
|---|---|---|
| Elite / Elite NTH | B.E./B.Tech. graduates across most branches | Project Engineer, Rs 3,50,000 joining compensation plus tenure bonuses (2023 batch page) |
| Turbo | B.E./B.Tech. in CS, IT or circuit branches, premier institutes | Project Engineer, Rs 5.5 lakh CTC plus Rs 1 lakh retention bonus (2025 batch page) |
| STAR | B.E./B.Tech. or integrated M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. | Project Engineer, Rs 10 lakh CTC plus Rs 1 lakh retention bonus (2023 batch page) |
| WILP | BCA and B.Sc. graduates | Scholar Trainee with stipend and sponsored M.Tech. |
Note the batch years. Wipro's public Elite and STAR pages still show 2023-batch terms, so expect the numbers in your own drive notice to differ. Always treat the notice you receive as the final word.
Who is eligible for Wipro Elite NTH?
The Elite National Talent Hunt is open to B.E./B.Tech. graduates from almost all branches with at least 60% in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation, according to Wipro's Elite NTH page for the 2023 batch. The full rule set on that page:
- Degree: B.E./B.Tech.; M.E./M.Tech. only if it is a five-year integrated course.
- Branches: All except Fashion Technology, Textile Engineering, Agriculture and Food Technology.
- Scores: 60% or 6.0 CGPA in graduation, and 60% in Class 10 and Class 12.
- Mode: Full-time degree only. Open school or distance education is accepted only for Class 10 and 12.
- Backlogs: One active backlog is allowed at the time of the assessment, but it must be cleared along with the final semester.
- Gaps: Up to three years between Class 10 and the start of graduation; no gap during graduation, which must finish within four years (five for integrated courses).
- Cooling-off: Anyone who took part in a Wipro selection process in the previous three months is not eligible.
The Turbo 2025 page applies similar academic rules but limits branches to CS, IT and circuit streams (Wipro Turbo).
What are the rounds in the Wipro hiring process?
Wipro's fresher process has an online assessment, then a business discussion round, and for some programmes a voice assessment in between. Here is the sequence as Wipro describes it for Turbo 2025 (Wipro Turbo):
- Register on the official Wipro recruitment link for your programme.
- Take the online assessment. It has three segments: aptitude (verbal, quantitative and logical), a coding test in C, C++, Java or Python, and a written communication test.
- Clear the voice assessment, which checks spoken English.
- Attend the business discussion with the Wipro team. This is effectively the interview, covering your technical basics, projects and communication.
- Receive a Letter of Intent, then complete pre-skilling training.
- Receive the offer letter and join.
For Elite NTH, Wipro's page describes an 80-minute online assessment covering verbal, analytical, quantitative and written communication skills, followed by coding, and then the business discussion (Wipro Elite NTH). It does not list a separate voice round for Elite, so check what your invite says.
Our aptitude test preparation guide covers the quant and reasoning segments, and the job interview preparation guide help with the business discussion.
What is the salary for Wipro freshers?
Wipro's published packages differ sharply by programme: Rs 3.5 lakh joining compensation for Elite NTH (2023 batch), Rs 5.5 lakh plus a Rs 1 lakh retention bonus for Turbo (2025 batch) and Rs 10 lakh plus a Rs 1 lakh retention bonus for STAR (2023 batch), all as Project Engineer.
The Elite NTH page also lists tenure-linked bonuses on top of the joining figure (Wipro Elite NTH):
| Completed tenure | Bonus listed |
|---|---|
| 6 months | Rs 25,000 |
| 18 months | Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000 |
| 24 months | Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 |
| 36 months | Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 2,50,000 |
Bonuses are paid only if you stay, so they are a retention tool rather than part of first-year pay. When comparing offers, look at the fixed component first. Our CTC vs in-hand salary guide shows how to work out monthly take-home.
Does Wipro have a service agreement for freshers?
Some Wipro programmes do carry a service agreement. The Turbo 2025 page lists a 12-month service agreement of Rs 75,000, recovered on a pro-rata basis if you leave early (Wipro Turbo). The WILP page lists a 60-month training agreement with Rs 75,000 payable pro-rata if you leave within five years (Wipro WILP).
The public Elite NTH and STAR pages do not mention a service agreement, but that does not prove there is none in your batch's offer. Read the offer letter clause by clause before accepting. Our guide to service agreements and bonds in IT jobs explains what these clauses usually mean.
What is Wipro WILP for BCA and B.Sc. graduates?
WILP (Work Integrated Learning Program) lets BCA and B.Sc. graduates join Wipro as Scholar Trainees and work full-time while Wipro sponsors an M.Tech. degree (Wipro Early Careers). For the 2025 batch, Wipro required at least 60% or 6.0 CGPA in a full-time BCA or B.Sc. in CS, IT, Mathematics, Statistics, Electronics or Physics, with core Mathematics as a subject (Wipro WILP).
The same page lists a stipend of Rs 15,000 a month in year one plus a Rs 75,000 joining bonus, rising to Rs 23,000 a month by year four. Weigh the long agreement against the value of a sponsored master's degree. Business Standard reported in September 2026 that permanent onboarding had been delayed for at least 400 WILP trainees.
How long does Wipro take to onboard freshers?
There is no fixed timeline, and recent batches have waited. Business Standard reported in August 2026 that the employee group NITES had complained to the labour ministry about more than 200 Elite 2025 selects who received offer letters in July 2025 but still had no joining date. Wipro said it remained committed to onboarding them in line with business requirements.
Earlier, Wipro's CHRO told Business Standard in January 2025 that the company planned to onboard 10,000 to 12,000 campus hires in FY26, while taking a cautious approach. The practical takeaway: keep applying elsewhere until you have a joining date in writing. Our guide on what to do when a joining date is delayed covers your options.
What do most guides on Wipro hiring get wrong?
Most guides treat Elite NTH as the only way into Wipro and quote a single package. In reality, Turbo and STAR pay considerably more, and which programme you can enter depends largely on your college and branch. If your college is among the premier institutes Wipro targets for Turbo, prepare specifically for its coding segment.
Guides also tend to describe the selection as complete once you get a Letter of Intent. Wipro's own process puts pre-skilling training between the LoI and the final offer letter for Turbo, so an LoI is not the end of the process.
Finally, many guides ignore the fraud risk. Wipro says it never charges a fee at any stage, sends genuine emails only from the @wipro.com domain and does not interview over WhatsApp or Telegram (Wipro Fraud Awareness). Anyone asking for a "training deposit" is not Wipro.
FAQ
What is the salary for Wipro Elite NTH freshers?
Wipro's Elite National Talent Hunt page for the 2023 batch lists the role as Project Engineer with joining compensation of Rs 3,50,000 a year. It adds tenure-based bonuses, from Rs 25,000 after six months up to Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 2,50,000 after 36 months. Packages can change by batch, so confirm the figures in your own offer letter before accepting.
What is the difference between Wipro Elite and Wipro Turbo?
Elite is Wipro's broad technical graduate hiring programme for engineering freshers from colleges across India. Turbo recruits from 46 premier institutes such as IIITs, NITs and selected private colleges, and is limited to CS, IT and circuit branches. Turbo 2025 paid more, at Rs 5.5 lakh CTC plus a Rs 1 lakh retention bonus, but carried a 12-month service agreement.
Is there a bond in Wipro for freshers?
Some programmes carry one. Wipro's Turbo 2025 page lists a 12-month service agreement of Rs 75,000, recovered pro-rata if you leave early, and the WILP programme lists a 60-month training agreement with Rs 75,000 payable pro-rata. The public Elite NTH page does not mention a service agreement, so read your own offer letter carefully for any such clause.
How many rounds are there in the Wipro hiring process?
Wipro's process typically has an online assessment followed by a business discussion round, with a voice assessment in between for programmes such as Turbo. The Turbo 2025 online test has aptitude, coding and written communication segments. Candidates who clear the business discussion get a Letter of Intent, then pre-skilling training, and then the final offer letter.
Can I apply for Wipro Elite with a backlog?
According to Wipro's Elite NTH page, one active backlog is allowed at the time of the online assessment, but it must be cleared along with the final semester. The page also requires a full-time degree, no gap during graduation and at least 60% in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation. Check the eligibility in your batch's notice, as rules can change.
Why is my Wipro joining date delayed?
Wipro onboards freshers according to business demand, and recent batches have waited. Business Standard reported in August 2026 that more than 200 Elite 2025 selects who received offers in July 2025 had no joining date. Wipro said it remained committed to onboarding them in line with business requirements. Keep applying elsewhere until you receive a joining date in writing.
Final thoughts
Wipro's fresher routes vary far more than most candidates realise, from the Elite NTH entry package to the much higher STAR offer, and some come with service agreements. Pick the programme you are eligible for, read every clause of the offer and keep other options open until you have a joining date.
