Why This Role Matters
Every borrower conversation must meet the gold standard of debt counseling and that standard is only as strong as the systems underneath it. We need someone who can build the backend foundations that make our AI agents secure, compliant, and ready to scale from thousands of conversations to millions.
This is a backend engineering role where security and compliance are the domain, not just a checkbox.
What You’ll Do
Backend Platform Engineering
- Design and build tenant isolation systems that keep each bank's data completely separated at the database level
- Build authorization and access control frameworks - role-based permissions, PII redaction, scope enforcement
- Build compliance-grade audit logging across every service entry point (HTTP, queues, schedulers, webhooks)
- Work across Node.js/TypeScript services running on AWS (ECS, API Gateway, Lambda)
- Build internal tools to streamline operations and compliance workflows.
Security & Compliance
- Help establish org-wide security controls, processes, and documentation
- Implement data compliance requirements: encryption, access controls, retention policies
- Uphold ISO 27001 / SOC 2 efforts alongside our compliance partners
- Participate in NBFC partner due diligence reviews
Who You Are
- 1-3 years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
- Strong foundation in cloud security.
- Comfortable working across Python / Node / FastAPI / TypeScript stacks.
- Prior exposure to fintech / infosec / compliance-heavy environments is a plus.
- Bias to action: you don’t just follow controls, you build them and ensure it’s followed.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical security to both engineers and NBFC partners.
