Microsoft is offering Applied Sciences internships in India for PhD students. Interns design, build and evaluate machine learning and AI solutions for real product scenarios, including training, fine-tuning and evaluating large and small language models. The work covers running experiments, improving algorithms on large datasets, preparing and cleaning data, building prototypes that can go to production, and writing up results for technical reports, papers, patents or open-source work. Applicants must currently be pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Econometrics or a related field, with at least one semester or quarter left after the internship. Research experience in ML, deep learning, NLP, computer vision or generative AI is expected, along with strong Python skills and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Multiple locations in India.
