Vassar Labs is hiring Java engineers through its Java Hireathon 2026. Track 1 (Software Engineer) is open to candidates with 0 to 3 years of experience, and 2024 to 2026 graduates with strong Java projects can apply. The company builds climate-technology platforms used by Indian state governments for flood early warning, reservoir operations, urban water supply and digital agriculture.
Selection process: a one-hour online test (Java coding plus an ANSI SQL question, webcam required), a one-day onsite hackathon at the Hyderabad office, and two technical interviews for those who clear the hackathon. It is a hiring process, not a contest, with no prize pool.
What you need: real Java (8/11/17/21), SQL plus at least one NoSQL store, one stream-processing framework, and hands-on experience self-hosting open-source infrastructure. Backgrounds in backend, platform, data/streaming or distributed systems fit well. Roles are based in Hyderabad; the event runs 10 to 24 October 2026, so register early.
