Amazon is hiring a System Development Engineer I for the Catalog Support and Programs team within Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems, the group that runs the systems behind Amazon's worldwide product catalog. You will give service-level support to engineering teams that own tier 1–3 systems: keeping their software packages and configurations free of vulnerabilities, setting up and watching new metrics and alarms, and driving root-cause fixes for recurring problems. You will also build tools that improve operations. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, 1+ year of DevOps or SysOps experience in a large-scale software environment, Linux/Unix skills, and programming in at least one language such as Python, Java, C++, Go or Ruby. Experience automating and supporting infrastructure, building testing or monitoring frameworks, and strong debugging skills are expected.
