KONE is hiring a design engineer at its Chennai technology centre. Candidates need a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering and 3-10 years of experience. You will analyse technical specifications and customer requirements to define the right elevator system solution and choose equipment and components. A large part of the role is building, validating and optimising complete bills of materials so they are accurate and meet contract and technical requirements. You will design material lists and solutions with safety, reliability, manufacturability, maintenance and lifecycle in mind, support standardisation and modularisation, apply sustainable design principles where possible, and keep component costs under control.
